Tumblr (3.0; @btcp)http://btcp.tumblr.com/<p>I have such a loving and supportive family. Last night I got home at 9.30 from the library and found a beautiful brand new copy of Gatsby on my desk which I almost completely missed because my room was such a filthy mess but I asked my mum what it was and she was like oh your dad bought it for you cos apparently there’s a movie coming out soon, and idk if he bought it for me cos he knows I love Leo or just because he felt like it but he hasn’t bought me a book in AGES. In primary he’d buy me a book every week cos my parents loved that I loved reading so I’d just devour the books they bought me and they always told me that regardless of our financial circumstance, they’d always have spare money to buy me books. Anyway seeing Gatsby on my desk amongst all the random sheets and clothes strewn everywhere just made me feel so warm and happy that despite being anything but a perfect daughter, my parents still love and support me, even though we’re all really horrible at showing affection or even appreciation and so never do. My dad just got home and called us the pack of lazy shits family because my brother and I both jigged school. And even though we all bitch about our puppy over dinner, especially my dad, he’s always the one to make sure we feed her and I know for a fact that he bonds with her secretly everytime he goes outside to have a smoke. My parents are such an inspiration. When I see my dad discussing business matters with my mum, I can see how much he values and respects her opinion even though my mum’s obviously never studied business in her life. She calls my dad virtually every single day to check what time he&#8217;s coming home from work and he never gets annoyed, it&#8217;s normal, and her face lights up every time he walks through the door. And my dad’s come so far in Sydney. I don’t think he ever dreamed that we would be living this comfortably. I’m not as close with my brother as I’d like to be and we’re still far from a perfect family but lately I feel like they’ve been pillars of support throughout the HSC, the way they make an effort to trust me and not hassle me, I’m so thankful but never grateful enough of what I have.
